Hi, Alice. I’m you. And I have something very important to say to you.”

  • What is this movie about?

We are presented with Alice, a linguistics professor who is married with three grown children. She starts to forget words as the Alzheimer disease starts to be present in her life. She will have to face this new challenge and witness how it affects her bonds with her family.

  •  Why should you watch it?

Two words: Julianne Moore.

She is THE movie. Her performance is heartbreaking, really. You feel more and more pity for her character and if you have met anyone with Alzheimer you will feel it pretty real. The rest of the cast is a good support for Julianne’s character which only elevates her even further. Please, check who is receiving nominations for this movie (an Oscar one included).

The film is good made, focusing on Moore’s character and her evolution with the disease, something that is now happening to thousand of people. It is really a topic one should give two minutes to consider. By watching this feel you will feel nearer not only to these people but also to their families. So now, for the sake of Julianne, just go watch it. And remember: don’t forget to take some tissues with you (just to be safe).

  • Did you know?

– Co-director Richard Glatzer suffers from ALS and can’t speak. He directed the film using a text to speech app on an iPad. Both Moore and Stewart dedicated their “Ice Bucket Challenge” to Glatzer.

– The movie filmed in 23 days and out of chronological order.

– Julianne Moore’s son is an extra in the film.

– Julianne Moore previously featured in ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ in which she remarks that she saw the latest ‘Twilight’ film and that it was ‘so bad’. The ‘Twilight’ franchise starred Kristen Stewart, who appears in this film with Julianne Moore.

– In the novel on which the film is based, there is a stated reference to the character of Dr. Alice Howland that she is right handed, while her son, Tom, is left handed. In reality, Julianne Moore is left handed and Hunter Parrish is right handed.
